Westin St Francis
Hotel Information: Established in 1904, this grande dame hotel presides over Union Square in the heart of San Francisco. The lobby is a destination unto itself, with dazzling chandeliers, stately columns, and a soaring coffered ceiling. The knowledgeable concierge staff includes members of the prestigious Les Clef d'Or. Guests over the years have included U.S. presidents, international royalty, and movie legends.
Amenity highlights: The elegant Michael Mina restaurant, winner of multiple awards, showcases refined American cuisine and an extraordinary collection of more than 3,000 wines. Seasonal selections pair a primary ingredient, prepared three ways, with a trio of accompaniments. The Royal Doulton china was personally designed by Chef Mina.
La Stone Therapy Massage and the Pacific Pleasure Sea Salt Glow are among the treatments available at the hotel's acclaimed spa.
Insider tip: For spectacular views of San Francisco, take a glass elevator to the top of the hotel's tower. The elevators climb 32 stories along the exterior, providing one of the last great, free thrill rides in town.
Renovated in 2006, the 1,195 guestrooms are divided between the historic 1904 Main Building and the contemporary Tower. Rooms in the Main Building have Empire-style decor, with high ceilings and the original chandeliers. Tower rooms offer stylish, modern decor and bay windows with city and/or bay views.
All rooms feature the Westin Heavenly Bed: custom-designed, foot-thick pillowtop mattress with all-white bedding; triple sheeting; down blanket and duvet; and an abundance of pillows. Rooms also include the Westin Heavenly Bath: dual showerhead with multiple spray options, curved shower rod for extra room, velour bathrobes, oversized Brazilian combed-cotton bathsheets, and spa bath products.
High-speed Internet access is available for a surcharge. Cable TV includes pay movies, video games (surcharge), and complimentary HBO.
Westin Heavenly Cribs and Heavenly Dog Beds are available upon request. All rooms are nonsmoking.
